Initial Radon Mitigation Free Quote Request
First we discuss options and costs for reducing radon levels in your home. Some of the important factors include:

  • The radon level in your home, and questions ensuring testing was done correctly.
  • Your home's age, structure, layout and foundation.
  • If you home has a drain tile and/or sump in the basement.
  • If the home has an attached garage?
  • Electrical connection points and codes.

Quote & Contract
We will then provide a firm, written quote with a guarantee to reduced the levels in your home to 4 pCi/L (the EPA's threshold for mitigation) or below. Often we are able to reduce levels by twice that level.

Installation
Installation normally involves drilling into the foundation or drain tile system, running heavy duty PVC pipe up and out of the home, and attaching an integrated continuous fan to the system. We then seal cracks and other openings to ensure the high efficiency of the system.

During installation we ensure that dust and mess are kept to a minimum. And above all, we take strict precautions to ensure that our installation work does not compromise the structural or aesthetic integrity of your home.

Post Installation
Post installation includes:

  • Checking system integrity and performance,
  • Testing for potential back drafting of combustion appliances.
  • Familiarizing you with the system and how it works.
  • Providing you with free and objective post installation radon level testing.
  • Complete and thorough clean up
  • A packet will be mailed that includes - Air-Pure warranty, Paid invoice, Post Testing results, and a Citizens Guide to Radon Booklet (from the US EPA), along with more information pertaining to your new radon mitigation system

The following are some questions you might want to ask anyone you're considering hiring to install your new radon mitigation system.

Also remember that sometimes you get what you pay for. You don't have to go with the most expensive company, but often the least expensive company is cutting corners in ways that are not in your best interest.

What kind of training do you have?

Make sure your mitigator has been professionally trained. Scott has been trained by the National Radon Proficiency Program, one of the top programs for radon mitigation.

Are you certified? By whom?

You should always choose a mitigator that has been certified by NEHA or NRPP.

Colorado does not require mitigators to be licensed, so it is particularly important to verify that anyone you are considering truly is certified by a professional organization that requires members to follow EPA standards, such as NEHA.

What is your NEHA number?

If you have any doubts, you can verify their NEHA membership on the web at RadonGas.org. See this link to verify ours
http://www.neha-nrpp.org/providers/104832.html.

Are you insured with General Liability and Workman's Comp Insurance?

This is important, if they do not have this insurance, you the homeowner may be held liable to cover accidents that occurred at your home.

Are you the one who will be doing the work?

Sometimes the owner gives you an estimate but sends out subcontractors to do the job. If you choose Air-Pure Services employees, we will be at your job, guaranteed.

How will you check after installation that the system actually works?

The company should provide you with a short-term radon test that you can install yourself to verify that radon levels are below the EPA recommended level. If the company does the testing, you have to take their word for it that their system is working. Air-Pure Services provides a short-term test so that you can see the results for yourself.

Does your work come with any kind of warranty?

The company should guarantee its work as well as the equipment used in your mitigation system. Also find out how long the warranty lasts and if it is transferable. Air-Pure Services guarantees systems for five year and allows you to transfer this warranty to the next owner.

Do you follow EPA standards and all building codes?

All mitigators should do their work according to EPA standards and state and local codes.

Do you provide free estimates?

If a company does not provide free estimates, ask why. Air-Pure Services will give you a free Radon Reduction Estimate, usually within 24 hours of your call or request.

Do you have any references?

As with any business, if no one will say good things about their work, will you?
